Kerala Elephant Foundation
Projects
The Kerala Elephant Foundation is a project-based organization. The first and primary project is to rescue and care for severely abused elephants in the region. Follow-up and adjacent projects include establishing a local world-class elephant hospital, veterinary program, and elephant orphanage.
Kerala Elephant Sanctuary
Kerala is home to about half a thousand captive elephants. While some of these elephants are properly cared for, many are in dire need of assistance and sanctuary. The Kerala Elephant Foundation aims to build a sanctuary for the care of the most abused and vulnerable elephants in the region. With respect for the local community, we will help these beautiful animals feel love and freedom in sanctuary.
Kerala Elephant Hospital
A sister project to the Kerala Elephant Sanctuary. To assist with advanced and specialized treatment for all elephants in Kerala and the surrouding region. With assistance, will include a mobile unit that can treat elephants remotely.
(To be developed after launch of the sanctuary - stay tuned!)
Veterinary Training
A sister project to the Kerala Elephant Sanctuary. For the sake of disseminating key veterinary expertise for all other elephants in Kerala and the surrounding region.

Elephant Orphanage
A sister project to the Kerala Elephant Sanctuary. Based off of models of current elephant orphanages around the world, but with the key flexibility to find new methods that work!
(To be developed after launch of the sanctuary - stay tuned!)
Rewilding and Semiwilding
A long-term sister project to the Kerala Elephant Sanctuary. Developing rewilding and semi-wilding methods is crucial for the long-term improvement of captive elephant welfare worldwide.
(To be established after launch of the sanctuary - stay tuned!)
Robotic Elephants
Robotic elephants are the future of elephant festival culture. By replacing live elephants with robotic elephants, we spare live elephants a life of slavery. The Kerala Elephant Foundation is committed to promoting this trend.
(To be launched alongside the sanctuary - stay tuned!)
